Two lovers in a Rene Magritte style cutout hover over the warm chromatically vibrating floorboards, intertwined and peering to each other but simultaneosuly in their silhoeutte they're looking out and becoming the very window to a larger soul.
A larger soul of oceanic peace and tranquility, of balance and light with radiant moonlight shining down outside onto the entire earth out there.
A guitar sits silently but in its own silent shape it resonates with space itself, leaning against the vibrating room and the very atoms that are harmonizing, buzzing, oscillating in their invisible high energy ocean sustaining the space two lovers embrace, for this moment they feel the song they make.
How I Made this Artwork
"Like there was a Song in Us" originally started as an oil-painting. I wanted to expand upon the textures from that original painting so I used the best photograph of it that I had as a foundation, an under layer for practice with my Wacom tablet.
Pulling up the pixel-material very much like oil on a traditional canvas painting, I played with different brushes until I found one that just swirled the underlying colors like waves. Some of them I left where they were, others I used the Wacom brush to move around and create digital glazes for textural effects that would have been much more time-consuming, and messy, and smelly, if I had done this part in traditional oils. And it was the inner feeling of waves I wanted, as if the whole world in which these two lovers found themselves, was made of dreamy water in itself.
Since water and ocean is such a major theme in this artwork, making all of the textures give this same feeling, and make it, when I look up close at it, so that I almost feel hypnotized into the same beautiful, tranquil moment these two lovers themselves, are within, becoming the very window as each other, that I get to enjoy seeing outward at the beautiful midnight moonlit ocean.
Thinking about a Gift for Someone Special?
"Like there was a Song in Us" would make a perfect art gift for Lovers. Something to say on Valentine's Day or Anniversary that I really appreciate the time we've spent with one another.
This painting really says to me how much a perfect gift that person is in my life, someone who really makes me disappear into a poem of inner appreciation and awakening.
If it were given as the perfect Anniversary or Valentine's gift, whomever receives it is almost certain to appreciate a deeper way that you feel about them, in a sublime, poetic and deeply romantic way.
